What Mahatma Gandhi had to say about his aloe daily diet!
“I asked myself what were my secret strengths, during my hunger? Yes, it was my undying faith in God, my frugal and simple way of life, and Aloe, realizing its benefits at the end of the XIX century during my arrival in South Africa.” Mahatma Gandhi 1869-1948

“It must be stressed that the vitamin content of Aloe, for all vitamins and minerals present, complies with the minimum doses required in daily use” (“Cancer Can Be Cured” P. 129).
"Regarding Aloe, use it as a preventive measure; use it as a curative measure only as a last resort. This way, it will be much more lucrative for you. You will save money – because you will not need medicine. The universal need for dietary nutritional supplementation is no longer a question. It is essential to the preservation of good health and a long life". (“Aloe isn't medicine and yet...it cures!” P. 50)

Kitchen Accessories

MAKE IT SIMPLE:
Home usage of the aloe leaves requires some preparation. There are numerous recipes that can be found on the web.
Presented below are the recommended practices of preparation and storage, common to all the aloe recipes, and the recipe and servings specifics of Father Zago's recipe, and a few other recipes of our own liking.

Kitchen Accessories:

  1. Super sharp” knife that “passes” the paper test! Probably the most tried and true method to test a knife’s sharpness is the good old-fashioned paper test. Grab a piece of paper, hold it between your fingers, and slide the knife downward. If it's sharp, it will cleanly and easily slice the paper with just the weight of the knife. If it's dull, it will usually be ragged or slip right off. Most Kyocera Ceramic knives will pass that test successfully! This is a prerequisite to accomplish the peeling of a leaf in less than one minute!

  2. Kitchen Serrated knife

  3. Elevated” Cutting board (Optional - with a “drawer” to collect scraped gel). The “elevated” board would make it easier to hold the knife horizontal with the blade parallel to the peeled skin.

  4. Large silicone ice cube trays with lid for frozen storage of smoothies, gels and other “large volume” aloe recipes and Small silicone ice cube trays with lids for the gel scraped from the leaf’s skin after its peeling (read more on the scraped gel below).

Getting Ready and some general practices

  1. The frozen aloe leaves should be kept in the freezer until they are pulled out for preparation,

  2. Depending on the room temperature, let them defrost for about 30-120 min (depending on your room temperature, in a 68°F it could take 120 min and more). until they soften a bit,

  3. Wash the defrosted leaves to get rid of any sap that may have been secreted during the defrosting process.

  4. We provide you with links to videos that show how to prepare various recipes, note that whatever the recipe relates to, when a blender is used, you do not have to cut the leaves/fillet and other foodstuffs that you add to the "blend", provided that your blender is strong enough.

  5. When a recipe recommends adding some fluids to the "mixture", add the fluids before you start the blender - this way the fluids will protect (to some degree) the aloe antioxidants that are so beneficial, from oxidation as a result of the blending action.

  6. Try to avoid turning the blender to its full speed, and minimize the blending time, to minimize the oxidation of the blend.

  7. For freezer storage of ready-to-use blends, we recommend the use of silicone ice cube trays - with lid, making it easy to pull out and use whatever the dosage of your preference for each of the blends of your choice. Large silicone ice cube trays for frozen storage of smoothies, gels and other “large volume” aloe recipes, and small ice cube tray with lid for blends that are made from the gel scraped from the leaf's skin as described below.

Second step: Cut a strip of about 0.2” from the edge of the second side of the section.

Third step: Cut in the center of the section making it into two narrower strips, easier  to separate the gel from the "top" and bottom skins.

Forth step: Lay one of the strips on the cutting board and "slide" the knife, holding it horizontally, separating the skin (the side laid on the board) from the gel, and then repeat the action with the other side of the skin, with the skin laid on the cutting board.Repeat the above action with the other strip.

Fifth step: Use the kitchen serrated knife to scrape the fillet from the skins. Start from the "center" and scrape towards the edges. It will become flattened as you move forward with the scraping action. You may add the scraped gel to the gel collected in step four (read more about aloin risks here), or keep it in a small jar for topical applications as prescribed below.

FAQ comments and responses:

Q: Why using a “super sharp” knife (a knife that “passes” the paper test)?

A: It reduces the “resistance” to the cut, eliminating bending of the section or deviations            of the knife from its intended positioning and “orientation”,

Q: Why starting to scrape the fillet from the center to the edges of the sections?

A: It prevents the section from bending as it may happen when you start scraping from            the edge and holding at the center,

Gel extraction for topical applications
Topical applications (mostly skin and hair) allow the use of the aloe gel that covers the aloin layer on the inner side of the rind. This scraped gel will be much richer with aloin (see picture below) and its most beneficial ingredients.
Some of the most potent anti-inflammatory qualities of the aloe leaf are in its aloin element "The present results indicate that aloin and aloe-emodin possibly suppress the inflammatory responses" [REF], "The most relevant antioxidants present in Aloe plants are aloin" [REF].

When you are done with the fillet extraction, use the serrated knife to scrape the skin and collect the gel to a small jar, and keep it refrigerated (or frozen) until used in its intended recipe.

Father Romano Zago Recipe and Dosage

FATHER ROMANO ZAGO'S ALOE FORMULA AND DAILY DOSAGE

Copied from the book "Aloe Isn’t a Medicine and Yet...It Cures!" (P. 11)

Ingredients (by weight):

  1. 40% of Aloe arborescens leaves,

  2. 55% of Organic bees honey,

  3. 5% of distillate (grappa, cognac, whiskey, etc.), we use organic apple cider vinegar.

Preparation

Cut the leaves to smaller pieces (about an inch long). Put the ingredients in the blender and grind the leaves to make the mixture into a paste. You may have to add some water to the mixture to obtain a good homoginous paste trying to keep the grinding action as short as possible (to avoid oxidation).

When done, pore the mixture into an ice cube tray and keep it frozen until used.

Zago's recommended doses:

Cancer Prevention: Once a day, take one tablespoonful on an empty stomach 20 to 30 minutes before lunch and dinner.

Cure for cancer: Practice repeated cycles, of taking the preparation for 10 days and taking a break for 10 days.

Making aloe part of our diet (An important comment on page 35):

“There are many people who make use of Aloe 365 days a

year on their own initiative. These people affirm that this hasn’t had any ill effects on them whatsoever. They use it every day because they feel it gives them an excellent quality of life,

allowing them to do away with the need for any type of allopathic remedy.

In short, following the recommended dosage, you may make use of Aloe any time you consider it necessary, with or without a break between complete preparations."

Important reminder!

Store the aloe gels, smoothies and other recipes frozen at temperature of 0° F (-18° C) until used, to minimize their deterioration over time and extend their “shelf life”. Stored under such conditions the "product's" shelf life could be extended to eight months and more.

Coconut milk recipe (good for keto diet)

Try this recipe, and you will never look back (all ingredients should be organic)

Put in your blender (most recommended to use only organic ingredients):

  1. 14 oz (400 grams) fillet pieces from the gel rich frozen aloe vera leaves after skin peeling (less than 2.5 grams of available carbohydrates),

  2. 14 oz (400 grams) coconut milk (24 grams carbs),

  3. The pulp from half a lemon (scraped with a grapefruit spoon),

  4. 1-2 tablespoons of raw honey, (17-34 grams of carbs),

  5. 6 teaspoons of Monk Powder (use water to dissolved the powder at a ratio of 1 monk :2 water - boil the water and stir, let it simmer for about 15 min).

Turn the blender on for a short blending action (preferably slow blending to avoid oxidation), taste the blend, if you still feel some bitterness, add some raw honey to neutralize it.

Serving:

4-6 ice cubes per day,
